Accused New Bedford Drug Dealer Found Guilty In Federal Court
A man described as a violent New Bedford drug dealer is facing up to life in prison after being found guilty of drug trafficking and robbery charges.
A Federal jury returned the guilty verdicts Monday against 35 year old Francisco "Cisco" Monteiro. Sentencing was set for July 6th.
During the two-week trial, prosecutors outlined how Monteiro and two associates sold large quantities of heroin to a co-operating witness in February, 2013. Then, when they set up a second sale, agents said Monteiro robbed the cooperating witness of the "buy money."
The jury also heard testimony about a second incident in 2011, where Monteiro and others robbed two Cape Cod oxycotin dealers o $225,000.
Monteiro faces anywhere from ten years to life in prison
