FALL RIVER — A former Fall River man wanted on charges of rape of a child has been arrested in Alabama.

The Bristol County District Attorney's Office says Brian Jackson was listed as a fugitive from justice since May 2018 when a warrant was issued for his arrest. An extensive investigation by the Massachusetts State Police Unit assigned to the DA's Office revealed that Jackson was likely hiding out in the town of Goodwater, Alabama.

On March 13, a state trooper from the DA's Office contacted the Coosa County Sheriff's Office in Alabama, informing them of Jackson's likely whereabouts. Sheriff's officers arrested Jackson in Goodwater later that night without incident.

On Friday, March 15, Jackson waived rendition in an Alabama court and will be returned to Massachusetts to be arraigned in Fall River District Court. Jackson faces two charges of rape of a child, three counts of indecent assault and battery on a person under 14, and a charge of assault and battery of a minor.

The Bristol County District Attorney's Office says Jackson is alleged to have repeatedly raped a young female child while he was a Fall River resident. Jackson had been added to the Bristol County District Attorney's Most Wanted list prior to his capture.
