The Whaling City Festival is here to stay.

The Park Board approved a one time 9 PM closing time during Wednesday night's meeting.

Chairman Peter Boswell says the festival committee must meet certain stipulations to stay open later...

Festival President Allen Richard says providing a list of entertainment will be difficult with such a short planning period, but is confident everything will be ready on time.

Mayor Jon Mitchell is also requesting an extra hour of police detail for more security on the grounds.

The Whaling City Festival was not on the board's agenda, so there was no public discussion on the time change. The public will be able to make comments at the next meeting on April 30th.
