A Plan To Regenerate New Bedford Unveiled At City Hall

New Bedford has a new blueprint for economic growth in the city.

A group called the New Bedford Regeneration Committee compiled a report that focuses on reviving Downtown New Bedford, improving port facilities on the waterfront and advancing the city's manufacturing industries.

During a news conference Thursday, Mayor Jon Mitchell said some of the plans outlined in the report are already being worked on.....

The Regeneration Committee is made up of business, education and community leaders committed to finding ways for New Bedford to grow.

Among the proposals in the report: modernize zoning to support the city's vision for Downtown, gain local management for the State Pier, and create a unified workforce development plan.
