13-year-old Stabbed in New Bedford’s West End

NEW BEDFORD — A 13-year-old boy has been hospitalized after apparently being stabbed in New Bedford's West End on Wednesday night.

New Bedford Police received a report of the 13-year-old victim being assaulted at around 9 p.m. on Wednesday. Police say the boy was with a group of males close to his age in the area of 31 Cottage Street when the victim was assaulted and stabbed in the back.

The young boy was transported to Rhode Island Hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.

New Bedford Police are investigating the incident.
