UMass Dartmouth is putting increased funding to use after Governor Deval Patrick signed the state budget Friday. The finalized budget includes $479 million in funding for the five UMass campuses, a $39 million increase over last year's funding level.

UMass Dartmouth Chancellor Divina Grossman tells WBSM News it's been a while since the university has seen an increase in funding of any kind.

$2.7 million dollars in increased funds has been allocated to the "Star Store" location in downtown New Bedford, with $1.6 million going towards the Advanced Technology Manufacturing Center in Fall River, and $425,000 allotted to the School of Marine Science and Technology.

Grossman says fees for this year will not go up for students, and a tuition and fee freeze for next year is also in place.
