The United Way of Greater New Bedford's Changemaker Grant program has funded more than 800 projects since 1995.

Volunteers gathered at Keith Middle School Saturday to assemble more than 1,000 food baskets headed to needy families throughout the Southcoast.

The United Way is looking to assemble 1,000 packages of healthy snacks to be distributed to children prior to the April school vacation.

The United Way Collected more than $240,000 in donations and still has money left to help families with overdue mortgages or rent.

Local agencies are calling for members of the community to volunteer in support of their efforts to assist those in need during the COVID-19 crisis.
