An audit of the state's welfare agency has identified millions of dollars in questionable payments to people who were dead or otherwise ineligible for benefits, along with missed opportunities to detect potential fraud.

State Auditor Suzanne Bump says the Bristol County District Attorney's office needs better record-keeping when it comes to disbursing money seized in police investigations to area non-profits.  State auditors spent more than six months looking at records in the Dstirct Attorney's office, and determined some $2,000 worth of transactions involving forfeiture money needed more documentation...
