New Bedford Harbor is seeing an expansion of the areas closed to shellfishing in due to outfalls from wastewater treatment plants in New Bedford and Fairhaven.
Environmental officials say an estimated 600,000 gallons of non-disinfected wastewater was discharged from a Fall River treatment facility into Mount Hope Bay.
The Wareham Harbormaster Department says Onset Bay has been reopened for shell fishing.
The announcement was made Monday on the department's Facebook page saying that the state Division of Marine Fisheries has lifted the closure.
