New Bedford Public Schools officials say the district is prepared to combat cyberattacks after a ransomware attack in Swansea downed networks and left schools closed across that district Wednesday.

As most of New Bedford's public schools get ready to open their doors to students on Sept. 1, the district's Technology Services Department is hard at work installing $3.8 million in new gadgets and other upgrades.
