Mattapoisett Water Treatment Plant

Since last week, some Mattapoisett residents have been getting brown tap water that stains laundry, sinks and toilets — and a pump replacement gone wrong is to blame.

After nearly two weeks, Marion and Rochester residents can drink their tap water again — but those in Fairhaven will have to keep boiling it first until further notice.

Fairhaven, Marion, Mattapoisett, and Rochester residents have been issued a boil water order starting today after E. coli was detected in all four towns.
