Lucy Bly

In 1876, the New Bedford whaling ship Catalpa sailed to western Australia and took part in the rescue of six Irish prisoners.

Now in its 25th year of existence, the Whaling National Historical Park covers a 13-block area adjacent to downtown New Bedford.

Ranger Lucy was a volunteer Walking Tour Guide before the National Park was established.
