Five students in New Bedford have each been granted $35,000 to pursue science and tech-related studies in higher education through the SouthCoast Community Foundation's Jacobs Family scholarships.

NEW BEDFORD — Five high school seniors were awarded scholarships worth a total $175,000 Thursday by city native Dr. Irwin Jacobs during a ceremony at the New Bedford Whaling Museum.
