The Department of Public Utilities has ordered Eversource to reduce rates due to the recent federal tax cuts, and has opened an investigation to analyze how the recently enacted federal tax law may affect utility customers.
State utilities regulators have approved a nearly $37 million per year rate hike for Eversource's Massachusetts electric customers that was much smaller than requested, but still drew the ire of the state attorney general.
Electric and natural gas utility NStar has agreed to refund its customers almost $45 million for overcharges on capital improvements, pension expenses, and energy efficiency programs.
