Suspect Arrested in New Bedford House Break Also Wanted in New Jersey
A New Bedford man is arrested after allegedly breaking into a South End home.
Detective Captain Steven Vicente says police were called to the area of Fair and Hall Streets after a neighbor saw a man break a window in a nearby home and climb inside.
After setting up a perimeter at the scene, police found the man locked inside of the third floor apartment which was vacant and undergoing renovation.
Police arrested the man, 38-year-old Jose Luis Alverez-Ruiz, and charged him with breaking and entering during the day with intent to commit a felony. Alverez-Ruiz is also wanted out of the state of New Jersey on probation violations for similar crimes. He's scheduled for arraignment this afternoon.
