State Lawmakers Meet with DCF Head

The head of the Massachusetts department of Children and Families says she held a ``very productive'' closed-door meeting with lawmakers looking into the disappearance of a 5-year-old Fitchburg boy.

Commissioner Olga Roche said Thursday's meeting with members of two legislative panels was conducted in private because of confidential details that could not be discussed during a recent public hearing.

State officials have said social workers lost track of Jeremiah Oliver, who hasn't been seen by relatives since September and is feared dead. His mother and her boyfriend are facing charges.

Roche said she'll continue to work with lawmakers to protect the safety of children.

Her boss, state Health and Human Services Secretary John Polanowicz said Thursday he continues to have confidence in Roche's ability to lead the agency.
