Southcoast Men Honored at Heritage Day of Portugal

Heritage Day of Portugal was celebrated in Boston today Tuesday.

During a statehouse ceremony, State Representative Antonio Cabral awarded two Southcoast men with the Heritage Day of Portugal Award.

One of the recipients was Stephen Ferreira, a New Bedford High graduate and realtor on the Southcoast, who currently serves as the president of the New Bedford chapter of the Prince Henry Society.

Also receiving the award was Dionisio da Silva Garcia, a well-known Azorean-born musician and DJ at Portuguese radio station WJFD.
