This is just outrageous! Rhode Island lawmakers introduced a bill that would charge porn viewers in that state a $20 "fee" to access the content.

This brainless and unconstitutional idea introduced by State Senators Frank Ciccone and Hanna Gallo would require internet-enabled devices sold in Rhode Island to come with a "digital blocking capability that renders inaccessible sexual content and/or patently offensive material."

Rhode Island wouldn't just block overtly sexual content, but anything deemed patently offensive, too--even though there's no definition of this term. I guess they'll just know it when then they see it!

What makes this even more irrational and ridiculous is that under this bill, anyone 18 and older could have this 'government filter' removed by making the request in writing and paying $20. What, no photo, blood sample or DNA cheek swipe?

They must have a lot of idle time on their hands for the Rhode Island legislature to be introducing legislation that would charge viewers 20 bucks to look at adult material. So long to the days of the 25 cent peep show!

I'm betting a Jackson this cockamamie idea doesn't pass into law.
