NEW BEDFORD (WBSM) — The MBTA commuter rail won’t be the only alternative to driving to Boston this summer, as Cape Air has announced it will soon be offering a new passenger service between New Bedford Regional Airport and Logan International Airport.

“For the first time in recent memory, residents of the Southeastern Massachusetts region will have direct air access to Logan International Airport without having to battle Boston-area road congestion and high parking rates,” according to a release from the City of New Bedford.

Not only will flying from New Bedford Regional Airport to Logan help you avoid traffic and other delays on the roadways, it will also help you save time at the airport as well. You’ll be able to go through TSA screening in New Bedford, rather than having to wait in line at the checkpoints at Logan.

How Often Will Flights Leave New Bedford for Boston?

Cape Air will offer two flights per day, year-round, between New Bedford and Boston. The flights are scheduled to leave New Bedford at 8:15 a.m. and 2 p.m., with return flights departing Boston at 1 p.m. and 6:40 p.m.

How Long Will the Flight Take Between New Bedford and Boston?

It will take 35 minutes from gate to gate, according to the release.

The release stated that the flights are scheduled to begin on September 29, 2025. Tickets can now be booked at CapeAir.com.
