U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry told Boston College graduates to take the values of service instilled in their education and pass them on to the world.

The 1976 Boston College Law School graduate told the packed stadium at the 138th commencement Monday that a world-class degree comes with the ``profound responsibility to be leaders of change within these borders and beyond.''

He spoke of the urgency for action in fixing climate change, ensuring dignity for those of all races, religions and sexual orientations and helping end conflict and strife in the Middle East as well as African nations.

The Vietnam veteran added that the values learned at BC guided him while serving under President Barack Obama since 2013 and as U.S. Senator for Massachusetts for almost 30 years.
