As of mid-August, the Massachusetts Democrat and son of former U.S. Rep. Joseph P. Kennedy II had collected more than $3 million for the open 4th Congressional District race. That's more than four times as much as all the money raised by his rivals from both parties.

Kennedy collected nearly $220,000 from political action committees. Of the $2.4 million he received in itemized donations of $200 or more, 57 percent came from out-of-state. Kennedy campaign aides said 60 percent of his donors, including small money donors, are from Massachusetts. Also seeking the seat are Republicans Sean Bielat, Elizabeth Childs and David Steinhof and Democrats Rachel Brown and Herb Robinson.
