Immigrants Assistance Center Receives Grant for “Amigos” Program
New Bedford's Hope Collaborative and one of its member organizations have been recognized by the MetLife Foundation.
The foundation awarded the Immigrants Assistance Center a $15,000 grant to continue helping non-english speaking students and their families overcome language and economic barriers through the "Amigos" program at Roosevelt Middle School.
That's Helena Dasilva Hughes, Executive Director of the Immigrants Assistance Center.
Met Life also recognized New Bedford's Hope Collaborative and its ongoing partnership involving community groups and city police. The Collaborative has created youth programs and workforce job training to keep young people occupied and off the streets.
