Fishing Community Remembers Those Lost At Sea

Each year on Memorial Day, New Bedford's fishing community gathers on Pier Three to remember those lost at sea. 

The names of about 300 area fishermen were read aloud.

One of them was Joseph Carpenter Jr, who died while aboard the vessel Rapture in September, 1995.

His oldest sister Susan tells WBSM News, the annual Fishermen's Memorial Service brings peace to her and her family....

Another sister Cheryl, says her brother loved to go fishing.....

The annual Fishermen's Memorial Service is organized by the New Bedford Port Society.
