The first New Year's baby was born at St. Luke's Hospital at 12:51 am New Year's day. It's a girl born to Crystal Beltre and John Santiago.

It was the couple first child and was named Katelyne Darlene Santiago and weighed in a 4 pounds, 6 ounces and was 17 and a half inches long. Crystal's labor was induced around Noon on Monday after her blood pressure spiked.

The couple say the babies room in their North End home is decorated and ready for her. Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River welcomed a baby boy at 4:52 am. Wyatt John Howland was born to Caite and Tim Howland of Dartmouth. Wyatt weighed in a 5 pounds 10 ounces and is 17 and 3 quarter inches long. It's the couple's second baby. He wasn't expected to arrive until Feb. 15th.

The babies and their parents will recieve gift baskets filled with baby toys and clothes donated by the St. Luke's and Charlton Auxiliaries. There were no babies born at Tobey Hospital.
