The U.S..Attorney's Office in Boston says two men, one from New Bedford and the other from the Cape, are facing federal drug trafficking charges. 

The suspects, 32 year old Francisco Monteiro of Bourne and 34 year old Junior Lopes of New Bedford were charged Friday with conspiracy to distribute heroin, following an investigation by federal agents. 

Police say the suspects sold almost 100 grams of heroin to a "cooperating witness" on February 15. 

Agents searched Lopes' home on Appogansett Street in New Bedford on Friday, finding a small amount of heroin and a bullet-proof vest.  A search of Monteiro's home in Bourne yeiled packaging materials and other evidence of drug trafficking. 

The U.S. Attorney's Office says both men have a long history of violent crimes.  If convicted they face at least 20 years in jail.
