East Wareham Man Arrested for OUI, Hit and Run on Parked Car

WAREHAM — A 72-year-old man faces multiple charges for striking a car while driving drunk and fleeing the scene Saturday night.

Wareham Police say Ven Thong, of East Wareham, was arrested after police received a report at approximately 8:20 p.m. of a hit and run motor vehicle accident on Blackmore Pond Road.

The vehicle that fled the scene was spotted by Officers Matthew Donovan and Nate Aronson on Cranberry Highway near Tobey Road. Officer attempted to stop Thong as he continued onto Route 25 before finally pulling over.

After a brief investigation, Thong was placed in custody charged with operating under the influence of liquor, operating to endanger, and leaving the scene of a property damage accident.
