Door To Door Mail May Be Cancelled

More Americans could have to walk farther to get their mail. A House committee has endorsed a phase-out of to-the-door mail delivery. Under the bill approved Wednesday, one and a half-million addresses that now get mail delivered to the door would be switched over to centralized or curbside delivery.

The transition would happen over ten years and supporters say it would save the Postal Service more than two-billion dollars a year.
