The Federal government shutdown has forced the closing of the New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park, but the city's Director of Marketing and Tourism is assuring everyone, that New Bedford is still welcoming tourists. 

Dagny Ashley tells WBSM's Mid-Day Live, her office is getting calls about the shutdown and its impact on historic New Bedford.....

While the National Park Visitors Center on William Street is closed, the Waterfront Visitor's Center on Fishermen's Pier is open, along with the Whaling Museum, Seamen's Bethel, and other attractions in the district.
