Boston Red Sox great Carl Yastrzemski will be honored with a statue at Fenway park.

Yaz played his entire 23-year Hall of Fame career with the Red Sox. The unveiling of the statue will take place prior to Boston's game against Toronto on Sunday, Sept. 22 to commemorate the 30th anniversary of his retirement.

"This is quite an honor," said the 74-year old Yastrzemski in a statement today. "To have a bronze statue at Fenway Park is something I never could have imagined and I am very grateful to the Red Sox for this kind gesture."

Yaz played left field and first base for Boston from 1961 through 1983. He won the Triple Crown in 1967.
