Yarmouth Police Selling Stuffed K9 Dogs
There have been prayer vigils, memorial services, 10K road races, scholarships and other ways to pay homage to New Bedford native and Yarmouth Police Sgt. Sean Gannon, who was gunned down while serving a warrant in Marstons Mills.
And now, about two months after he was killed, the newest approach to fundraising in his memory is about to go viral.
On Saturday, the Yarmouth Police Department sold adorable and specially handcrafted stuffed K9 dogs at their headquarters for K9 safety. They were an immediate sellout!
Crafted by Denise Kalbach, an RN at Cape Cod Hospital, the miniature stuffed K9s sold for only $20 each, with all the proceeds going towards helping purchase equipment for the Yarmouth Police Department's K9 Unit.
Following the event, Yarmouth Police posted on their Facebook page that every stuffed animal sold out, and that they would be taking orders for more and would soon have them available to sell online.
Sgt. Gannon's K9, Nero, has pretty much recovered from his injuries incurred during the shooting, and soon, Sgt. Gannon's retired and beloved K9 Thor will be part of the stuffed dog lineup.
