Yale University students and faculty are being told to shelter in place due to reports of an armed person on campus.

New Haven, Connecticut police are responding to an anonymous call that came in just after 10 a.m. local time.

The university has confirmed the sighting.

Administrators sent out a text message alert to students.

Officers are on the scene.

Anyone with information is being asked to contact police immediately. Police are focusing their search on Old Campus, where primarily freshmen live.

Most Yale students are away on Thanksgiving break. No undergrads are in class and most graduate students are also out of school for the holiday.
