Fire officials say a 22-year-old woman who fell two stories down an elevator shaft at Boston's Fenway Park after a Red Sox game has been seriously injured.

Fire Department spokesman Steve MacDonald says the woman fell from the fourth floor and landed on the roof of the elevator, which was stopped on the second floor. It happened late Friday after the Detroit Tigers beat the Red Sox.

MacDonald says firefighters climbed through the elevator's emergency hatch and rescued the woman. A spokesman for Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center said Saturday that he couldn't provide information on the woman's condition, though MacDonald said she was seriously hurt.

MacDonald says it's unclear whether one or both of the elevator doors opened before the woman fell. Police and elevator inspectors are investigating.
