With the commitment from Governor Charlie Baker to sign into law a transgender anti-discrimination bill, some businesses and organizations may have to change their policies.

The YMCA serves as a place where the public can exercise, shower, and relax, and YMCA Southcoast President Jim Scherer tells WBSM News there will be little change to current policy. "YMCAs have moved to unisex or family locker rooms where there are single-occupancy, gender neutral changing facilities," says Scherer. "So that, in and of itself, certainly supports anyone's right for their gender identity." Scherer says most YMCA facilities have been that way for 20 years.

Scherer says the YMCA has full accessibility for everyone, and that mission will only continue.
