It was a wild afternoon in New Bedford Tuesday.

Three buildings in the city were struck by lightning, a highway off-ramp was closed and several roads were flooded as a cold front moved across Southcoast and pounded the region with heavy rain.

The national weather service said the area received anywhere between 1.7 inches of rain in the city to 3.3 inches on West Island.
