You may have never seen her, but you certainly heard Mrs. Wolowitz throughout the Big Bang Theory's eight seasons. But sadly the actress behind that memorable voice has passed away.

Actress Carol Ann Susi died yesterday after a brief, but aggressive battle with cancer. She was 62.

Warner Bros. and the show's producers, Chuck Lorre, Steve Molaro and Bill Prady, released a statement after the news broke saying,

The Big Bang Theory family has lost a beloved member today with the passing of Carol Ann Susi. Unseen by viewers, the Mrs. Wolowitz character became a bit of a mystery throughout the show's eight seasons. What was not a mystery, however, was Carol Ann's immense talent and comedic timing, which were on display during each unforgettable appearance."

Cast members were tweeting out their thoughts, prayers and condolences yesterday and I'm sure her presence on the show will be felt by all.

While it's still unclear how Lorre and producers will handle Susi's death on the show, sources say her character was set to have a central plot line this season.
