Some releif may be on the way for New England ground fishermen struggling with cutbacks in catch limits for cod, haddock and flounder.

NOAA has been informed there's been improvement in white hake stocks, that will enable a larger quota for the fishing year that begins May 1st.

The matter will be taken up by the New England Regional Fisheries Council later this month.

NOAA Northeast Fsheries Administrator John Bullard tells WBSM News, his agency will take quick action...

The proposal amounts to a 13% jump in the allowable catch of white hake, amounting to an increase of about a million pounds.
