Are you confused about whiskey? Until reading Whisk(e)y Distilled: A Populist To The Water Of Life by Heather Greene, I would have said, "yes." Now I know a little bit more about the origins of whiskey, the differences of whiskey and what cocktails it can be put into. Also, I learned that "'whiskey' is an umbrella term." (3)

Whiskey comes in different types such as "single malt scotches, blended scotches, bourbons, ryes, and Irish whiskey." (3) As an overage person who enjoys mostly wine and mixed drinks with a few beers thrown in, I wasn't aware of this fact. However, Heather Greene has a gift in stating the obvious without making the reader feel ignorant. In fact, I couldn't stop reading the book because she includes so many interesting topics.

One topic that caught my eye was chapter six about "Whiskey and Food." Did you know one should consider the "weather, time of day, cuisine, your mood, the context, and the person you are sharing your time with" before choosing your whiskey of choice? (213) Some of these items seem logicaI... but "weather?" Really? Because I don't want to spoil your fun in finding out the answer, please read Heather Greene's book entitled, "Whisk(e)y Distilled: A Populist To The Water Of Life." Enjoy!
