So where does all of this snow go?

In New Bedford, the Whale's Tooth Parking Lot along Acushnet Avenue serves as the dumping ground for the snow that piles up on city streets.

Department of Public Infrastructure Commissioner Ron Labelle tells WBSM News though we've had a lot of snowfall, there's still plenty of room in the lot.

That translates into roughly 43,000 tons of snow that now sits in the lot.

Labelle says with another storm predicted for later this week, the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection may soon allow communities to dump excess snow into the ocean on a need-to basis. Labelle doesn't think New Bedford will have to resort to ocean-dumping in the near future.
