Whaling Museum To Upgrade Exhibits Honoring Immigrant Whalers

The New Bedford Whaling Museum has been awarded a $300,000 grant over three years to upgrade exhibits that highlight the contributions of Cape Verdean and Portuguese immigrants to New Bedford’s whaling history. The grant comes from the William Wood Foundation and was announced Friday. Museum Director James Russell tells WBSM News, part of the money will be used to upgrade exsisting exhibits….

The museum, working with advisory committees, will also create education programs and activities to be used locally. Web-site content will be improved, and a traveling exhibit is also planned. It will make its way thru New England beginning in April.
