Ten seniors that never gave up on their education crossed the stage Tuesday afternoon at Whaling City Alternative High School.

They were cheered on by family and friends as they received their diplomas and set course for the next chapter in their lives.

Principal Arnold Chamanlal says as much as he loves to see his student walk, he knows it's not a "one-size-fits-all" approach.

"We're trying to get all of our students to graduate, but we also recognize not every student functions well within a traditional classroom environment and they need something else," said Chamanlal.

That something else includes after school programs and in-home lessons.

Students that attend Whaling City also have the chance to reintegrate into traditional classroom settings after receiving specialized instruction.
