A Weymouth firefighter has been disciplined for posting a message on Facebook in which he disparages drug users and the overdose-reversing drug naloxone, known as Narcan.

The Weymouth Fire Department announced Monday that Mark Carron would be suspended for 90 days and undergo mandatory counseling.

Weymouth Fire Chief Keith Stark says Carron is truly sorry and understands the ramifications of his actions.

Carron says in the Facebook post that has since been removed that Narcan is "the worst drug ever created." He also refers to drug users as "losers" and suggests that people suffering from overdoses should not be revived.

WBZ-TV reports Weymouth firefighters responded to 183 overdoses in 2015 and used Narcan in 114 of those cases.

Dozens of Massachusetts communities have received state funds to stockpile the drug.  (Associated Press)
