DARTMOUTH - A town official in Westport has been charged with taking pictures of underneath women's skirts.

Dartmouth Police say William Raus, 54, of Westport, has been charged with three counts of photographing, videotaping, or electronically surveilling partially nude or nude person or the sexual or other intimate parts of a person around the person's clothing (upskirting).

Police say the charges stem from multiple incidents that recently took place at the Citizens Bank at 606 Dartmouth Street in South Dartmouth, where Raus had been employed. Asked if Raus was available, a Citizens Bank representative at the Dartmouth Street location confirmed to WBSM News Raus was no longer employed at the branch.

Raus is Chairman of the Town of Westport's Community Preservation Committee, and is Vice Chairman of the Planning Board. Both of his terms expire in 2019.

Westport Town Administrator Timothy King was unaware of the allegations when reached by WBSM News Thursday afternoon. King says the Town of Westport will wait until an official outcome of the case before making a decision concerning Raus' status with the town.
