Would you be in favor of passing a ballot question to legalize marijuana in the state of Massachusetts?

Everyone has their own opinions on the issue, but Senator Michael Rodrigues from Westport is NOT in favor of legalizing recreational marijuana. He stated that he sees no good in the drug after taking a trip to Denver, Colorado.

According to WLNE 6, Rodrigues and the rest of the Senate Special Committee on Marijuana went to Colorado to study what has been done right and what has went wrong since Colorado legalized recreational marijuana, and he feels that it was mostly wrong.

The big concern is overdoses, which is one of the main problems that we are currently facing in our Southcoast area.

Last year alone in Colorado, there were over 600 visits to the emergency room.

So you may be asking why is this relevant to the state of Massachusetts?

So far, there have been over 100,000 signatures on this petition by a campaign that is trying to add a referendum question on November’s ballot to try to legalize marijuana.

It is unlikely that lawmakers will pass legislation to legalize recreational marijuana, but the referendum question will ask if voters want to approve of the drug.

As of right now, state residents are divided among the issue.
