The Handy House, at 202 Hix Bridge Road in Westport, will open for the season on Saturday, July 8.

According to South Coast Today.com, the house will offer guided tours and fun adventures for children.

"'Headwaters to Harbor,' created by the Westport Historical Society, celebrates the unique heritage and identity of Westport. From hurricanes to rum-running, ship-building to sword-fishing, this exhibition explores how water has shaped the community. From the smallest streams to the wide Atlantic Ocean, it has influenced the people and culture of Westport, and remains a significant part of local lives today."

Ongoing summer activities include guided tours every Saturday at 11 a.m.

"For families, a special self-guided activity 'Family Reunion' will introduce children to the history of the house and its owners. A series of summer adventures for children is scheduled for Wednesday mornings in August, with hands-on activities such as knot-tying and making wampum."

The Handy House is open with free admission from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. every Saturday, July 8 to Oct. 31.
