A fire in Westport Monday afternoon caused over $150,000 in damages.

Fire Captain Michael Silvia says a passerby noticed the fire at 96 Charlotte White Road around 12:15 p.m. and alerted the home's owner who was sleeping inside.

An investigation determined that the fire started in the ceiling of the first floor bathroom near the exhaust fan, then spread to the second floor.

The fire's cause is being listed as accidental.

Firefighters were able to get the fire under control in roughly an hour.

No injuries were reported but the Red Cross was called in to assist the owner due to the extensive damage to the home.

Assistance was provided by firefighters from the Tiverton Fire Department and the Rehab Unit from Fall River EMA.
