Westport Fatal Accident

There was a fatal auto accident late Saturday night in Westport. According to Westport Police, a single motor vehicle left Drift Road around 11:30, hit a telephone pole, flipped over and landed on the other side of the road.

Two un restrained back seat passengers were ejected from the vehicle and an unidentifed 16 year old female was pronounced dead at the scene while a second person was taken to Rhode Island Hospital.

The two front seat passengers, who were wearing their seat belts, sustained only minor injuries.

Westport, State Police and the D A's office are conducting an investigation into the accident. The names of the victims of the accident are not being released by law enforcement at this time.
