Fans of Weird Al Yankovic are banding together in hopes of seeing the comedian take over the Super Bowl halftime show.

A petition calling for the NFL to consider Weird Al for next year's game is taking off on Change.org. About 20,000 people have pledged their online support for the idea.

Petition creator Ed Bail writes that Weird Al has been entertaining fans "young and old" with his parodies for decades. Bail argues that Al's theatrics would be a "hilarious and welcoming change" and that he could also be joined on stage by the artists he's covering.
