The Massachusetts Department of Transportation has announced that the High St. railroad crossing in Freetown will be closed to traffic this weekend.

Police Lt. Steven Abbott says construction crews will remove and replace existing track and structure during the closure.

The closure will begin Friday at 8 a.m. and will remain in effect until 8 a.m. Sunday.

Lt. Abbott says police details will be in place to mitigate traffic issues but motorists are being urged to use Copicut Rd. as an alternate route.
