Weed Operation Busted In Westport

A six-week investigation in Westport leads to the bust of a weed operation.

Westport Police say they were conducting surveillance when they witnessed 47-year-old James Robert Jacobs of Davis Road in Westport distribute a large amount of marijuana to a female, who then drove off.

Police stopped the vehicle, and recovered eight pounds of marijuana in sealed packages. The weed has a street value of about $10,000.

Police then arrested James at his home, and seized over $5,000 in cash, cell phones, and notes documenting suspected drug activity.

Jacobs is charged with possession with intent to distribute a Class D drug. He faces arraignment in Fall River District Court.
