Sometimes on WBSM TV, we even beat the big television networks to discovering America's next biggest star.

On Tuesday morning, Teddy Mathews stopped by the WBSM studio to catch up with Phil Paleologos. The 2015 graduate of Wareham High School has long been known to SouthCoast music fans as one of the region's biggest musical acts, but in just a few weeks, he'll be taking his talents to the national stage.

Mathews is a contestant on the upcoming season of American Idol, as it makes the move from the FOX Network to ABC. Beginning March 11, Mathews will put his powerful voice on display for judges Luke Bryan, Lionel Richie and Katy Perry.

Of course, Teddy couldn't tell us too much about the portions of Idol that have already been filmed, but he does give some insight into the process of being involved with the legendary program that has "made" numerous musical stars in the past, such as Kelly Clarkson, Adam Lambert, Clay Aiken and Jennifer Hudson.

Teddy also talks about his days as "the little kid with the big voice" growing up in Wareham, and where he sees his talent taking him in the future.

The new season of American Idol premieres March 11 at 8 p.m. on ABC. Check out Teddy's music on Facebook, and watch a clip of him in action:
